Support

Oryn is a small app with a small number of things that can go wrong. The common ones are answered below. If yours is not here, write to us — a person reads it.

We aim to reply within two working days.

Common questions

Getting things working.

The grid is empty, or photos are missing

Oryn shows what is stored on the device. Two things usually explain an empty or short grid.

Permission. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Oryn. If it is set to Selected Photos, Oryn can only see the handful you picked; choose All Photos to see the whole library. If it is set to None, Oryn cannot see anything.

iCloud. If your library is optimised for storage, some items live in iCloud and not on the phone. Oryn deliberately will not download them — it does not touch the network for your media — so those items will not appear. Opening them once in Apple's Photos app brings them back onto the device, and they will then show in Oryn.

How do I restore a purchase I already made?

Tap the info button on the main screen to open the About panel, tap Moments and the lock, then tap Restore Purchase.

Make sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with. Oryn Unlock is a one-time purchase, so restoring it costs nothing and works on every device on that account. On a new phone the trial starts again, which means you will not hit a locked screen for two weeks — the About panel is how you get your purchase back before then.

How long is the free trial, and what happens at the end?

Everything is open for 14 days from first launch. After that, the photo grid, the video stream and full-screen viewing all stay free with no time limit. Two things ask for the one-time purchase: Moments and the app lock.

Nothing is charged automatically, there is no subscription, and no reminder emails are sent — because we have no email address for you.

I reinstalled Oryn and my trial did not restart

That is deliberate. The trial start date is kept in the iOS keychain, which survives deleting an app, so the free period runs once rather than resetting each reinstall. Your purchase is remembered the same way, for the same reason — so that reinstalling never costs you the price again.

Deleting a photo in Oryn — where does it go?

To the same place as deleting it in Apple's Photos app: your Recently Deleted album, where iOS keeps it for 30 days before removing it for good. Oryn asks iOS to do the delete; it does not have its own separate copy or its own bin.

The app lock will not let me in

The lock uses your device's own Face ID, Touch ID or passcode through iOS — Oryn never sees your face data or your passcode. If biometrics fail, tap the passcode option and use your device passcode. If that also fails, the problem is with the device's biometric settings rather than with Oryn: check Settings → Face ID & Passcode.

I want a refund

Purchases are made with Apple, not with us, so refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the purchase. We have no access to your payment details and cannot process a refund ourselves.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 16 or later.

Do you collect any data about me?

No. Oryn has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code, and your photos never leave your phone. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

One practical consequence: because we collect nothing, we cannot see what went wrong on your device. If you report a bug, telling us what you did and what happened is genuinely the only information we have.

Still stuck

Write to a person.

There is no ticket portal and no chatbot. Email us and include your device model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong — that is the only diagnostic information we have, because the app sends us none.
